i need opinions on gears

I searched for an answer and i couldn't find one that would settle my mind on this decision. I just bought a zexel torsen posi from slp and i was going to order my gears tonight and i couldn't make the decision between the 3:73's and the 3:42's. I have a pretty much stock 305 TBI with a manual trans. I have added a k&n and a cat back. I want my car to perform as well as it can. I want to add some goodies to the 305 later and that may play into the gear choice. I know the 3.73 are lower and will cause the car to chug more gas. Is the amount of fuel economy lost between the 3.42's and the 3.73's worth the performance? Is there going to be that much of a performance advantage? This car is my daily driver, but i do like to have fun with it on a regular basis. I am going to be putting a large chunk of money in this project and i want the right stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Go with the 3.73 gears. There will be very little change in gas milage. If it were an automatic I would recommend the 3.42, but the 3.73 would work better with the manual. What do you have in it now?

3:73

I would go with the 3:73's. I have a 700R4 and chose the 3:73's and man what a difference it made coming from a set of 2:73's! As for the gas mileage, the difference between the 3:42 and the 3:73 will be hardly noticed.
