i just bought a 84 TA with ???,??? miles on it with a 81 Z-28 350 in it. The engines running a beefy cam with headers and no smog control and straight through exhaust via glass packs and 650 elderbrock with intake......if i had to guess she's running about 240-260 hp and 300+ tq. and the 700R4 is shot to hell and i was goin to get it rebuilt but i was wondering how long it would last. I'm planning on doing more engine mods later on my goal is around 300+hp so do you guys think it'll take more power?

 

It should be fine. Get a transgo shift kit to cut down on band wear.

 

i putt a 350 out of my uncles old chevelle in my 87 bird it had a dynoed 325 horse reading with 410 in torque and my 700r only took it 4 bout a monthwith a totall shift kit and vette servo now im in the process of installing a t-5 so be carefull

 

I dunno man, that t5 is most likely even weaker than the 700r4 you have in the car.
