Please Help Soon!!!!!!
hey guys,
Today I was adjusting the tv kickdown cable and I think I made a big mistake. Instead of pushing the cable all the way down towards the back of the motor, I like pushed it towards me so that it ratcheted all the way back towards me. So I took it for a test drive and man did it shift high. It also waited forever to shift. So after about a couple minutes of driving my oil pressure dropped , LOW. When I was stand still, it was at ZERO. So I came home and found out the real way to adjust it. So can you guys tell me what I did to my baby. Why is my oil pressure so low now. Thanx guys. Oh yeah its an 88 Iroc tuned port 305.

Man I don't have a tremendous amount of experience with this, but I don't think your problem is tied to your transmission. It may be a result of revving too high too long because of the way you adjusted the cable and you've blown a seal or something - do you have any oil leaks? Does the engine seem to run ok and sound ok, like normal? If so, check your oil system's sensors and stuff.
Check your oil!!! Your probably low. How high were you revving the engine?? After you check the oil and make sure its at the right level start the car and see if you have pressure!! If you don't have pressure do yoiu hear funny noises, like loud ticks, or knocking, does the engine idle well?If so shut it off immediately, and get a professional mechanic to look at it.

the engine idles well, the only ticking i hear are the injectors, and when i start the motor up, the oil pressure is normal until i drive it a bit. I checked the oil and its completelyl full. it sounds completely fine. Do you guys think it could be the gauge going bad or the oil sending unit?

Possibly, yes. I would check the pressure sending unit or whatever and after that get an expert hands-on opinion. Honestly, if it runs the same and sounds the same I think it would be fine - I'd just keep driving it until something didnt seem right.
it is normal for the oil pressure to drop somewhat once the engine warms up. it shouldn't drop below say 15lbs at idle hot. It should come up as you rev the engine. I would get a mechanic to put a mechanical gauge on it and run it for a while. If the mechanical gauge reads fin ethen just chang the sender (maybe the gauge itself). Also important to note is the weight and condition of your oil/filter. A clogged filter or old oil can lower pressure.
