Magnet inside the transmission pan

Is it supposed to be glued down or is it just held down from the force of the magnet itself. I took my pan off yesterday to change the fluid and in the process of blowing it off with compressed air the magnet came loose, or slid down the pan. I saw no glue or anything to hold it in place and figured it was just held down by its own force. Is this true?

Yep done for easy cleaning. Mine looked like a silver fuzzball after the tranny let loose

It depends on the year, on my 85 it is just held in place by the magnetic force, on the 91 it is glued in place.

Hmmm, well I guess my 92 is just held in place by the magnet force. No glue to be found anywhere. Thanks guys.

The magnet is held in place by nothing but itself (no glue).
