bent axel shaft on 9-bolt

hi, a while back i curbed my back drivers side tire pretty hard. i thought i just bent the rim but apparently the drivers side axel shaft is bent. i was reading another post about changeing the shaft on a 10-bolt, but is it as easy on a 9-bolt? what exactly do i need (tools, replacement bearings, grease?) to do this job and aproximately how long "should" it take? im totaly inexperienced when it comes to the rear end of my car, but i am a fast learner and im sure i can do it myself. i am 100% sure it is a 9-bolt borg warner with limited slip.

Remove the wheel, the brakes and the 4 axle flange retention bolts, then the axle will slide right out. You don't even have to remove the rear cover.

And if you only jack up the side you're working on, you won't even lose any gear oil.

I did something very simular, and I think my axel shaft is bent to. I replaced the rim, and I still have a good 5 degrees on pitch when I am driving on that wheel. You guys think that is what is wrong? Could it be anything else?

I have an 89 firebird formula WS6, My drivers side axle shaft is bent. I can't find ant replacement shafts. Thet are real hard to find, so before you start tearing your 9bolt apart, find the parts first. I had to buy a posi 10 bolt and swap my 9bolt out. moser engine ering will build custom axle shafts at 150dollars a piece, but I needed bearings. After I added up the price of one new shaft, bearings, and shipping, a used 10bolt posi was cheaper. I still keeping my 9bolt. I want to rebuild the whole cars and keep the original parts on it. Good luck in you hunt for 9bolts and there parts.
