Flexplate

What is the difference between a flywheel and a flexplate? What I need is the big gear the the starter is connected to...is this a flexplate or a flywheel? Thanks.

auto=flexplate. manual=flywheel, since yours is a 350 im going to assume you have an auto, what happened to it? are the gears stripped?

There are some teeth missing, and every-once-in-a-while it makes a horrible grinding noise at start-up. I just need to know so when I put in my new engine I know what to get. Thanks for the help.

its too bad you live on the opposite coast as me I have one in my garage and Id give it to you for nothing, if you want it all you have to pay for is shipping but I think the price would be the same to buy one new or from the junkyard.
