"The General Belief Is Not True"

UPSHIFTS: Many transmission builders believe that performance and durability is gained if the shift is made harder, bumpier or more "feelable" by just enlarging a hole or blocking an accumulator. With a couple of rare exceptions, the general belief is not true.
A perfect gear change (shift) has no feelable features that can be talked about, except how long or short it is. Anything else you'd say about a shift, other than the engine slows down and the vehicle speeds up, describes something less than perfection.
A shift takes a certain amount of time. How much time a shift takes when the shift valve moves until the shift is completed is a prime and critical function, and is far and away the most important thing that can be talked about and changed.
A too-short shift creates a bump or an audible noise that subtracts from performance/drivability/economy/durability, and can attract complaints of roughness (bang shifts). A too-long shift subtracts from perfrormance/drivability/economy/durability, and can attract complaints of slipping, slide, runaway (spinup), or slide-bump (bang) etc.
SOFT AND FIRM: More than anything else. the rear end gear ratio. torque converter size, torque converter stall (some what), and vehicle weight control shift softness or firmness.
Trans-Go Performance Shift Kits (by design) increase capacity, which complete the shifts in a shorter length of time to insure durability. The Performance Shift kit, and the Trans-Go Junior Shift kit, will allow you to correct the often mismatched 1-2 accumulator system, which can give you a nice 1-2 part throttle shift, and a quick or quick/firm WOT 1-2 shift. A modified seperator plate, larger boost valves, pressure regulator spring, and Corvette servo co-ordinate to furnish up to 3 times as much oil to the 3-4 clutches.
If the valve body kit you are installing or having someone put in, is not addressing this......
As you can see, this takes some work.

Thanks for the info.

You use 88-92 cases, that will bolt up to an 87' car correct w/o any modification?

Do you do core exchanges?

They will bolt up to an earlier year. If you are local I will do an exchange. What is it you want to exchange?

1987 stock 700R4. Local only? I'm not local...but some places I've seen on ebay have a 500$ core charge....so I figure if I freighted the thing over it might be worth it, cause it won't do me any good having an old 700R4 sitting around.

(My 305 is sitting on the floor, the 350 is going in on friday.) I want to replace the stock 700 BEFORE it blows. So in a couple months I'm buying one. I have no local tranny shop I would trust, I've heard good things about yours. Right now your #1 on the list alone.

My prices include the core charge ($100.00-$150.00). So unless it is a Corvette, not worth the shipping expense, except when local.
