It appears that my torque converter goes thru premature lockup. If I am driving at a low speed, say...idling through town or sidestreet, the tranny kicks into a high gear and car lurches along like it is fully locked in. If I touch the brakes, just enough to trigger the switch and unlock the TC, no more lurching and tranny shifts back down to lower gear. Is something not right here? I know that my speedo is off about 10 mph, will that have an effect? I thought that automatic lockup happened when speedo saw like 40 mph, not 20. Do my symptoms describe a failing TC lockup switch? Any comments would be most helpful. Thanks, Eric.

For the low speed shifting problem I would check the TV Cable adjustment. For the torque convertor problem, I dunno.
