RPMS go DOWN as speed goes UP?????
RPMS go DOWN as speed goes UP?????
ok im having this problem on my 2002 S10. but it has the 4L60E in it which i know pretty simular to the 700R4 so maybe someone here will know..
while im cruising at like 15mph or so, (speed isn't so much important as throttle % and RPMS).. but my rpms will start to climb from 1600, 1700 and then about 1800. and as the speed increases, with throttle at about 10%, the RPMS will suddenly start to drop to 1750 then 1700. while the speed is still increasing. im guessing maybe it has something to do with the T.C. lockup? i have also noticed that when accelerating. at about 2200 RPMS 20-50% throttle, there is like a dead spot, you feel acceleration, then it kinda stops, then you feel acceleration. another T.C. lockup thing?

one thing to look out for, cause it happened on our 02 s10 at work a couple weeks ago.....
you'll see a connector that plugs into the coil. check the individual wires going into that weatherpack connector. on our truck, it has two wires.
the wires on our s10 were loose, and caused the truck to die intermittently. of course, while the truck was at the dealer, it behaved.
check those wires, and if they're loose, look into getting them replaced before you're found stranded.
in the event you end up being stranded, try jiggling the wires, or unplugging and plugging the connector back in. this is a temporary solution until you can get the wiring repaired or replaced.
before anyone says non thirdgen tech, this is to help dave out and to give him a heads up if his truck starts acting funny.
