Those with Hurst Dual gate, come in
I have the Hurst Dual gate shifter in my car and today when I was driving it I had the shifter over in the "race" side when I was at a stoplight. I put it down into first and then started driving shifting it at about 3500 RPM into second and then when I was driving with the car in second the car automatically shifted itself into 3rd. I know its not suppose to shift itself when you have it down in a gear other than Drive. Do I have something adjusted wrong? Or is this something it does under normal driving but if I am racing with the gas floored it will not do this?
Thanks in advance

dude, i've got the same problem. I just got mine finally put in and finished, and i have to pull it back to about neutral to have it engage in reverse and I have to put it in low to engage in overdrive. I was talking with my dad, and he and I think that the shift cable they gave with the shifter (which was about a foot and a half bigger then the stock one) is way too long. So we're thinkin about gettin a non OEM shift cable, maybe a tci (because the oem wont fit, trust me, we tried, and a tci is the only thing i've seen thats less than 3 foot long). So unless i get the problem resolved with the stock one, looks like i've got a winter project for the weekends i come home from college.
Mine did not come with any cable, are you sure your shifter is the Hurst dual gate? Your problem sounds like its just not adjusted right at the transmission. Jack up the car and adjust the cable on the tranmission. Move it forward or backward a little bit, and keep checking the shifter after each adjustment until each gear is where its suppose to be. If it is the dual gate shifter, just use your factory cable and you should be fine.
Hope that helps
