700r4 converter lock up dilemma

I recently swapped in a carbureted 350 in place of the TBI 305 in my 91 camaro. I have totally elilminated the ECU. I kept the 700r4 trans and am looking for the best and safest way to retain and control the lock up function of the converter. I have seen several aftermarket kits but I m not sure I need all that. I read all the posts about the converter unlocking when you let off the pedal and just cruise at highway speeds. I would like it to stay engaged when im cruiseing and still disengage when I hit the brake. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions would be welcomed. I dont want to damage my trans as its cost me alot to build.

I did the same thing to my car. The easiest way to lock the converter is to install a switch like the tech artcles say. It's not that great. You will have to lock and unlock the converter manually EVERYtime your stoping or accelerating. If you forget to unlock it and you try to accelerate you probably will blow the converter. TBI 700r4's are wired differentyly than all other 700's like on the TPI cars. Most 700 will lock once they go into fourth gear as long as there is 12 volts going to the "A" terminal on the connector to the trans, then unlock as soon as it comes out of fourth. My advice is to look online at various companies lock-up kits and study the schematics. If you want smooth lockup like factory I'd go with the Painless Wiring kit it's probably the best one I've seen. It uses a combination of engine vacuum and throttle position to lock the converter in 4th gear.
