Rear end rebuild?

allright i've got a 10 bolt with 3:73 POSi and it's leaking alittle from the bottom and and it makes a hell of a noise when you turn. Is it time for a rebuild or should i just grab a different one. And also i was wondering can you stick like 4:11 or 4:56 gears in the stock carrier or do you have to buy a special unit. I'll de honest with you guys i don;t know jack sh*t about the drive line.

4.11 or 4.56 should fit fine. If you think that you are having problems with your rear and want to put different gears in then I would just go with a new carrier. Auburn and Strange are usually recommended. I couldn't really accuratly guess the problem without more information about the problem and car year, how many bolts it is, etc,. How do you know that the differential makes the noise when you turn? Tibo

If you are runnin a 350 trans dfinatly only get a 4.10 gear
You won't be able to drive on the highway with a 4.56
My buddy did that and the oil in the carrier boiled and seized trhe gears
But if you never go on the highway, go for it man, she'll run good!

Buddy of mine had a th-350 it had 3.90 gears and he said that was about as far as he wanted to go. He said he noticed a jump from 3.73s to the 3.90s Just an idea.
