Speedo does not work in the morning

My speedo does not work when my car is first driven in the moring or for the first time that day. ITs a 91 RS V-6 700r4 tranny. IT has the electric speedo not cable driven. I thoght it might be my VSS but i have no ses light when that happens. I remeber my friends Firebirds speedo did not work at all and he had no SES light on either it was a 91 with the same setup i have V-6 700r4. Could it be my VSS has gone bad? After i drive the car for about 15 mins the speedo will finaly kick in and work perfect the rest of the day. Its jsut that first 15 mins its first driven for the day. And lately it has been progressivley getting worse. Any ideas?

humm...

when i first got my formula350 i had a nightmare with the vss i had no idea what gear to use to get a proper reading and the dealer wasnt much of a help. i got one idea for ya though,in the morning un plug the vss, put a can underneath to catch some fluid. have someone sit in the car with the key in the run position and spin the driven gear on the vss as fast as you can the speedo should go up to like 5 mph. if it doesnt work you may have some issues with the actual vss sender, if it does work maybe you have the wrong driven gear and it needs to heat up and expand to mate perfectly with the drive gear(thats why after 15 min it works), stick a flash light in the hole and check that your gear isnt stripped. just an idea?
