i want to go to a 700-4r from the TH350 in my car, i found one for 80 bucks from my buddy who just wants to get rid of it, works fine. I talked to my friend who really knows his stuff. This tranny is an 86, he said find one 87 or newer, 90 ideal. Whats the deal with them, he said have to change some more parts to build it. What stuff would i have to put in it to make it liek a 87 or better?

The older 700r4 doesent have an aux valve body and a few of the internals are weaker. My tranny guy claims he has had less failures with the older sytle but they seem to be shund around here. I never had a problem with my old 700r4 it came from an 82 caprice, I pulled it rebuilt it after I did the T5 swap for kicks and there was actually nothing wrong with it, internals were all perfect and it wasent treated nicely by me so.......
