mechanical clutch linkage
mechanical clutch linkage
New guy that needs help. I am looking for mechanical clutch linkage for my Camaro. I am located in NJ, if any one knows of a junkyard that might have a donor for this. I do not want to install the hydraulic setup because it reacts slower than mechanical linkage. I am having touble finding any of these setups. Has anybody made their own or should I give up and instal a hydrualic bearing so I don't have to buy a new bellhousing? The transmission is a Doug Nash 5 speed done by Liberty. If anybody has any leads on getting this setup please let me know.
Thanks, Ken

I had that mechanical linkage. It sucks.I could never get it to quit having miscellaneous friction and sticky spots, the whole problem where the the motion of the engine on the mounts affects the clutch, etc. etc. I threw it away when I put the hydraulics in my car. The hydraulic system is better in every way.
I don't know where this "slow to react" myth came from; too bad it won't go away. I don't know of any cars with linkage clutches any more, because it's just a stupid design to begin with; and all of the cable clutch cars I've driven (Mustang, FWDs, etc.) were inferior to hydraulics.
All 4th gens have hydraulics for example.
84-up V8 bell housings for these cars aren't that hard to find. That's what I'd recommend you do.
