Rear end fluid change, what weight fluid to use??
I have a 10 bolt 3.42 limited slip disk brake rear end from a 93-97 F body. I want to service the rear before I install it in the car and when I went to the auto store they had so many different weights for rear end fluid.
So lets say I planned to run regular rear end gear oil whats the recommended weight?
What if I went with synthetic, what weight would I run?

Only get gear oil from the dealer for the rear. You NEED to put the posi additive in there. if you dont you will notice that after a few weeks the clutches will get noisey. Just go to the dealer and get the 2 bottles of the recommanded oil and the little bottle of posi additive. I have ben doing this for 6 years and have not had any problems. Just my 2 cents. As for synthetics, my buddy put Mobil 1 synthteic in his rear end and hir rear started making noises.

I agree. Not knowing any better I put straight 90W in and the clutches started talking about 3 weeks later. GM designed it so you have to use thier additive, bastards.
