hmmm i am not too sure abot an 86 with an ausssi9 i have seen many 87-88s with them
at any rate this rear axle is very strong for a factory unit many 152-178 60' times with this axle, the key factor is the overall condition of this unit, most of all the price hes asking for it,NO more than 250.00 for any factory rear end of that age,a new style '89-'02 will run you 250.00 all the way up to 400.00 for a stock axle...judgement call on your end if the price is right

The 9-bolt was used from '85-'89 so an '86 3.27 rear is very possible. The 9-bolt is a lot tougher than a 10-bolt, but parts are also more expensive and a bit harder to come by. The 9-bolts also all had the same spline count, but I'm not sure what it is. Check out Miles's site for more info and 9-bolt part pricing.

28 spline axles....definately something to purchase....i'd say go for it. Also, no C-clips like crappy 10 bolts....uses bolt in axles....similar to 9 inch fords for example.

I think you better heed RBs advice from your other thread. What all comes with this thing? At least make him prove what exactly the thing is (we know it's a 9-bolt, but gear ratio and overall health) before you lay the money down for it.

If you decide to get this,Make sure you get everything you need to bolt this rite in. Don't make the mistake I did. I traded my 10 bolt with a new Eaton posi and 373's for a 9 bolt and never got the e brake cables or the brackets they hook to that go's on the calipers and I'm haveing no luck in finding them.Like said before do not give more than $250 for a factory rear unless it's a 9 bolt with 345's or higher or a Dana 44 and try not to buy sight unseen.
See if the sellar will let you remove the rear cover to inspect the posi, gears condition.
