rear end questions

which type of rear will work best for my ride? I have a 91 rs with a mild 350 and a turbo 350 trans. I have done a few suspension mods (SFCs, boxed LCAs, and shocks).

basically, I am going to be doing some upgrade work to the motor soon and want a rear to match. It will be primarily street driven with few track passes. I want to be able to launch without the car going sideways but I also want to have fun by being able to corner and keep streetability. so what will be best?

Open
Spool
Limited slip
Posi

Keep in mind that I have next to no experience in the rear axle. I have no doubts about my ability to do the work but I am not sure of what rear I should go with or exactly why. so please help. thanks.

you for sure don't want a spool or an open rear and the only differance between a posi and limited slip is the spelling that leave you with either a limited slip or posi, depending on how you spell it.

I got a hold of Gov-Loc. I bought it off ebay for $50.00 and it was new. Its a "limmited slip", I had a 3:73 richmond installed with Moser axles (had to because the new dif was a 28 spline and my 10 bolt was a 1987 26 spline unit) and a Jeg's aluminum rear end girdle. The rear end is awsum, it locks flawlessly every time, and I don't have any chatter or other noises. It was a very stout piece and well worth the $50.00.

If I had not found that deal, I was planning on getting the Eaton clutch type posi from Jeg's. Its around $450.00 I feel would be a better choice than the Auburn because it is totaly rebuildable, the Auburn as far as I know isn't, because it is a cone type posi.

I am planning on installing a Ford 9" in a year or two. For now, the 10 bolt will handle the power my 355 has if I drive sensibly, and don't use street slicks or any slick of any kind.
