Pro-Built...converter???

From the thread earlier we talked about the ratio differences between the 700 and the 200 trannies (since the 700 has such a big drop from 1st to 2nd gear), and Dana said that with a high stall converter in the 700 would make up for the difference. Now Dana, could you or someone else explain why this is? Thanks in advance.

Stall is only one spec on a converter, one other is shift extension and all converters have a different RPM after the shift. The converter in my car (Yank SS 3,600) has a low shift extension it drop down to 4,700 with a shift point of 6,000. Yank has a converter the PT 4,000 with that converter if I shifted at 6,000 the rpm drop is only to 5,600 and thats good for a N/A car. My car has a nitrous kit so likes more rpm drop.

Yeah I really know nothing about converters. What is the "low shift extension"? Thanks again.
