I'll also be posting this over with the suspension board but I was thinking to myself and wondering if i need to change the brakes from drum to disc if i put in a posi from my stock 10-bolt.

Also, would it be easier to do then or would there be any benefits (other than having the disc brakes) to doing both swaps together?

You can put a posi unit in your car without having to upgrade to disc brakes. But speaking from experience if your going to tear the rear end apart to put positraction in it you might as well set up a different gear.

Also swaping from drum to disc brakes will just look really good if you use a taller rim with skinny five spokes (ROH Snypers, Corvette Y2k's) You will also notice a BIG difference changing from drum to disc.

The factory drum and disc brake cars use different axels, so that's something to keep in mind too, because you may find that your stock axels are wasted on the bearing surfaces when you pull the rear apart.

All the aftermarket axels I looked at from verious vendors only worked with disc brakes if they were 28 spline. I had to have mine custom made to work with a 28 spline carrier and rear drums.

Good point. Most of the older rears had 26 spline and the newer are 28 spline. Did'nt even pay any attention when was swapping out the 3rd rear end in the car...POS anyways. Did I mention this one blew out too. Ford 9" here I come...oh wait, it's already ordered
