gear ratios

Well I have changed out the axle seal today, Thanks for everyones help out there, But I do have another question. My axle code is 6HP which is the 2.73 gearing, but it shows in the book that it is for the 1988, and 1989 models, is this correct? Thanks.

Count up the teeth and do the math before you put the cover back on. It's the only real way to be sure, unless you've owned the car since it was new.

You can also run your RPO codes through the decoder on this site. It will tell you what the car left the factory with, but no gaurantees 13 years later, unless you're the original owner.
