4.10 gear
I am preparing to do a 4.10 swap along with a t56 conversion. I am currently running a more or less stock 5.0 tpi. I feel that is'nt too much gear. Opinions seem to vary though. I would like some feedback to help me out with the right move. My t56 is .50 overdrive 6th gear.

Thanks for that info. I curious also about tire spin or too much. I am also building a 350hp 350 currently. I'm concerned from reading that with that motor and gear it may be too much

4.10's are perfect for a 6 speed car.
Just get decent rubber out back and don't do high rpm clutch drops and you will be fine.
The only drawback with a high hp motor, 4.10 gears, and 6 speed is when you run the 1/4 mile you may have to shift to 5th gear.
We had this issue with my friends 99 SS, at about the 1000' mark I'd have to shift to 5th and the car would pull a little slower.
I think the best his car did was 12.04 @ 117mph.

Thank you. Those were my thoughts as to the et gearing. I figure it will still run good et's but I'm building it for a street car. My goal is exellent all around performance along with fuel economy on the highway. I believe it can be done.

Oh, and the nice thing about 4.10's is if you are cruising on the highway in 6th at 60mph or so and want to accelerate you can just step on the gas. With 3.42's, you need to downshift to 5th or 4th since there is no pull whatsoever in 6th gear.
