TC Lock up prob?

I have a strange problem going on. It looks like the TC is locking up when I'm accelerating. I can be cruising at 70 or so and slowly press on the gas and the RPM's will drop down about 300 or so and have a slow accelaration. Sometimes I can be in 2nd or 3rd going up a hill and I can go from about 1800 or 2000 rpm to 1500, like it shifts into a higher gear. As soon as I back off of the throttle I'm back where I should be. I can be accelerating on to the freeway and then I get a "kick up" and have squat for power 'cus of the low RPM's. Any ideas???

That sounds like it might be a TC lockup malfunction.
It could also sound like an actual upshift malfunction.

I would endeavor to find out if the lockup solenoid or TC itself is foul. I know a TC solenoid going bad can unlock, but I haven't heard of premature lockup.

i had an 86 cuttlass once with lock up tc. not sure of the tranny type, though i know it was a three speed, but it worked fine at first. then it started premature lock up. so my father cut the wires and put them on a toggle swith. i think on that car, the lock up came from the distibuter. course i could be way off on that as i was not there when he did it. in the end i enjoyed the set up like that. the only time i flipped the switch was on the highway, where it operated perfectly like that. i dont know if you can do that to our cars, but its worth checking out for a quick and reliable fix. i drove mine over 40000 miles like that.
