TKO question
TKO question
Hi, I'm to this board. I was thinking of buying a 91 T5 car with the intentions of putting 415 or 427 small block in it. It would be a street car. Now I know the T5 will not handle this torque. Could I use a Tremec TKO trans instead? I can't seem to find any info on this swap. What is involved? I am thinking it should be easier since the car is already a stick.
I thought about a T56, but it seems like a bigger hassle.
Also, when a trans is rated at say 450fts of torque, is that for the final gear? I heard this and the first gears are actually rated at much more. Is this true.
I welcome all comments.
