t56 questions
Ok
I have purchased a t56 out of a 95 z28. The questions I have are,
-What flywheel should I use??
- Should I use an lt1 clutch???
The motor I have is a 2 peice rear main seal 355.
Thanks

Now would be a good time to upgrade that clutch. Go with a Mcleod, Centerorce, SLP, or spec stage II or III. I am not sure on the flywheels and that sorta depends on your final set-up. Try a search and see what other T-56 guys are using.

I chose a McLeod flywheel. They are available in steel or aluminum for this application. I would caution against aluminum. They can make the idle unstable.
I use a SPEC Stage III clutch too. It is a little much for a street car, but it never slips. Make sure to follow the break in recommendations religiously whatever clutch you use.

Thanks for the help
A couple more questions are
What size clutch do I use does an 11 inch sound right??
Then if I use the 11 inch clutch all I need is a flywheel that can acomidate an 11 inch clutch right.

Nope. The '93-'97 T-56 uses a "pull style" clutch that is set up in a totally different way. The pressure plate bolt pattern is different, the friction area is different, and the actuation method is VERY different. To use an LT1 style T-56 you HAVE to use an LT1 style clutch and flywheel....or else change the input shaft and bellhousing and figure out a way to make the hydros work.
The aftermarket T-56 uses a T-5 style clutch, but if you already bought the trans then you're more-or-less stuck.
It *MAY* be possible to have a T-5 flywheel machined to accept the LT1 style clutch and pressure plate.....I don't know of anyone who's tried so I'm not sure.
FWIW I use the Centerforce 700107 flywheel and a SPEC stage 3 and absolutely LOVE the combo.

You need an LT1 specific clutch/p.plate combo. A custom flywheel. An LT1 hydraulic setup, and you are all set. This is really the only way to do this right.
