Bad problems with th-350 linkage
I'm having some problems with the shift lingkage on my th350. I'm using the original 700r4 linkage that was in my car before the swap. It started that I was having problems getting the car into park. Then today when I was driving it, the shifter went dead completly. I couldn't get it in any gear other than 1st.
What have you guys done that used your original shifter, shift linkage, and the 700r4 linkage cable holder done?
By "linkage cable holder" I mean the part that bolts on to the tranny pan and has the square hole in it for the lingkage to go through.
Please help me

Had a simliar problem.
Take a part the shifter consol in the car (take the whole thing off, ashtray, glove box and all. and make sure to unblug the electrical switch wiring.) check out where the cable goes into the shifter. Look around there and see if the clips on the shift linkage boot arent bloken and letting the whole thing slid back and forth (and therefore not moving the shift lever on the tranny)
my clips broke, first i used a hose clamp to keep it in place, after that failed i nailed two cotter pins (from my recent brake job) through the plastic shifter cable linkage boot. its in there good now.

In regard to your problem of linkage issues.Unfortunatly it has to be adapted .I know exactly your problem.I have a 86 trans-am that came with a 700 R4 but the original owner decided to replace it with a turbo 350 instead. So as a result you probably only have 1 bolt holding on the the shifter linkage bracket to the bottom of the pan.I would search around for a bracket that may or may not be availible thru (trans-dapt) or have a local welder make one custom for you.All thats needed is just a little more length on the bracket for this to work. This is the route that I might take but Im also thinking of replacing the transmission back to stock.
