Transmission swap needs help
Ok, I'm looking to swap transmissions here in the near future. My questions is can I put in a non-ecm tranny into my car and still be able to use my electro speedo? The reason is I swapped engines and now using a carb. No more ecm. So my torque converter doens't lock up. Oh yeah its a 700r4 too. Is it possible?

The 700R4 is a non-computer controlled transmission. All the ECU controls is the torque converter lockup. Its simply handled as a flag in the BIN of the PROM, which is a fancy way of saying that the computer is used as a glorified switch. You can buy or make a setup that will lockup the converter only in 4th gear and unlock it when you brake for non-computer applications. Do a search on this forum and you will find plenty of info on this.
