700R4 differences

Hi guys, I'm new to the board. I was wondering if anybody here can tell me some of the differences in the years of the 700R4's? from what I've heard the 87-up trannies are the best when doing a swap(which is what I'm doing). But I'm also curious about the lock up converter control. my car has no computer controls anymore and I have a TH350C which has a lock up torque converter. I use a switch to control lockup on it. The unit I'm swapping in is an 85 700r4. Is a switch required for that year or is it an internal pressure switch? any info you guys can give me or if you can link me to some 700R4 sites, I would appreciate it.

-Mike

Not the best year to start with, unless you just had the transmission rebuilt, and you have no other choices. The 1988 & up are the ones you want to start with.
