Has anyone here rebuilt a T10..lately?I am needing a rebuild on mine..but have never played with rebuilding manual transmissions.I had it rebuilt 7 years ago now by a friend..but it is more than time for a rebuild again and he moved, leaving no one I trust around here to do it.Just looking for pointers on what to look for when I attempt this project.I have a pretty extensive tool collection..but is there any really specific tools I will need?TIA

Actually, pretty straighforward as long as nothing is broken. Standard tools are all that you need, a set of snap ring pliers will help, there is a tool that works like a backwards set of needle nose pliers(squeeze handle, jaws open) which help for some of the snap rings, but you could do it without it.
two important tips: when removing the counter gear shaft, drive it out from the front to the back, and put it back in from the back to the front, the front hole of the case has a slight taper, and driving it in and out that way makes sure you don't open that hole up which prevents leaks. Also, when replacing the shaft, pack the needles into the counter gear with heavy grease, so they stick, and gently push the shaft back through, thats the toughest part of the whole deal.
second tip, make sure that the synchro and synchro ring stay together in the same clock position, what I mean, is that the synchro and ring are kinda matched, so that the splines move smoothly, so when you take them apart, make a paint mark or something so that you put them back together the same way. I had a trans that was tough shifting because I threw the parts in a box and didn't keep them matched.
that should be about it. good luck!

I rebuilt mine last year fairly easy if you take your time. Heres a like with a pdf. file on how to rebuild the st-10. I used the same manual. Your also going to need a press to remove bearings.

i've rebuilt a lot of t10s and mincies, but it's been 10-15 years ago since i did one. at any rate it wasn't hard to do. i did need a bearing seperator and a press.
