Hi folks,

this time I'm not asking for the car in my sig but a 88 Firechicken. Doesn't matter I guess, tranny is the same th700r4.

Everything started with

*a strange, faint squealing like a loose serp. belt.
It came from underneath the center console. I could hear it that good because I have an aftermarket shifter in the car and the center console is cut open.

*I also realized the car drove different.. Wrong somehow.

*Second step: When driving in OD and entering 4th gear, driving would consist of nothing else than buckling. No knocks, just buckling. Thought its the ECM, it got reset a day before, but was soon informed else from Mrs. Transmission herself.

*Last step: Tranny didn't shift anymore.

*The gear slipped out, car was in Neutral, didn't accept any gear.

*I stopped, bang, gear was in again. But only first. No other gear functioned.

*When I stopped sideways to let the 100s of other cars behind me pass, I heard a little weak knock from somewhere. After that, car would shift into 2nd, but no further, again.

I let it rest in peace after that, just made it home and let it be.

*Additionally, I smell something burned from underneath the car and inside the center console (yeah it looks funny if someone is sniffing around his shifter), could be burned ATF.

*I have Dexron II ATF in the car and the oil level is normal.

*Before I bought the car (December 03) the oil level was too high, and I think this has been like this for a good while.

I know from the previous owner that he had the same problem and he changed something in the tranny. I tried to contact him but no success, and I really want to ask for help without having talked to him, maybe this problem is easy to solve.
Is the TCC orginally coloured yellow? Mine is :\

I really hope someone has a hint for me. Thank you in advance....
