4 or 6 cyl. torque convertor for my 8?

First off, let me say that I am all for budget mods that work.

That said, I know that 4 and 6 cyl.'s usually stall much higher than v8's due to their lack of torque.

Does anyone know if there is a convertor that I can ****** up from a smaller engine car that will fit up to my 700R4, flash at about 2000-2500 RPM, and withstand about 400 ft lbs consistantly? If I could do that for $50 from a boneyard instead of forking over $$$ for an aftermarket one, that's good money I can spend on making my car hook

Or better yet, has anyone ever tried to halve there convertor and remove some fins from it, then weld it back up? (yourself, not sending it off to a shop)

Thanks for the help guys. I tried a quick search but really didn't turn up anything.

cool man, what part of joliet are you from?

Couldn't a trans shop flush the fluid out before I put it on? (assuming I could find one that works)

the cost to get the TQ flushed would cost about the price for a new one.
