700r4 hangs in gears - sometimes

I have a 700r4 with a B&M shift kit. It has a snappy second gear shift and typically runs great. Fluid and filter are clean.

Recently it has developed some problems. Once in the while it will act up, regardless of being warm or cold. It will hang like it's not going to shift and then snap hard into second gear, third gear, and sometimes not go into fourth at all (at a steady acceleration, not WOT). As well, just sometimes it will go into neutral when i tromp it into passing gear. Other times, it's completely perfect. TV cable and bracket are adjusted correctly.

Any ideas??

THANKS!

Let me add...

On a few occasions it will stay in first well past 4k rpm. After several stops and goes it will finally SLAM into second. Get in the next day or later and it's find.

Sounds like the tv boost valve is getting stuck.Common problem in 700's. The trans go kit has an extra spring to help it snap back closed so you have normal line pressure. Somebody told me its the same spring as some ford trans like the FMX. You may be able to drop the pan and pull the tv boost valve out and clean it, or see if the stock spring is broken.

Thank you for the feedback. I will pull it this weekend and let you know what I find. Should I be checking the servo or governor for any problems? Could they cause these types of symptoms?

my tranny is doing the same thing. it wont shift til about 3500 to 4500 rpms. when it does shift. it will about put your hat in the back seat. i took it to a tranny shop. he took it apart said it was a couple of stuck valves. he cleaned them up , and it shifted good for about 30 miles then back to the same thing. i havnt figured it out yet. wonering if you ever fixed your prob? if so what was it and what was the fix? my car is a 88 gta 5.7 with a 700r4.

Unfortnately, when i pulled my pan to check for sticking valves, I found a bolt from the valve body and significant metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. Shopping for new performance 700R4's
