HELP electonic speedo Mechanical gauge

Ok I have got and 87 camaro with the mechanical speedo drive. 'But I have installed a 5 speed from a 92 with the electronic sender unit. Can I just change the instrument cluster and connect the wires from the sender directly to the cluster to make it work? Oh yeah I am doing an engine swap at the same time going old school. Carburator no "ECM or any of that other stuff. just a carb and an HEI distributor hooked up direct.

Can it be done if so what wires go where?

Thanks
Ric

Put the sending unit from your old T5 into the 'new' transmission, and hook up the cable.

do you mean to say that all I have to do is put the cable drive sender into the transmission and I am good to go, No need to pull the tranny out of the car remove the tailstock and change the gear on the output shaft or anything like you have to on the automatic?

As long as the color of the speedo drive gear on the shaft is the same, you won't need to change it. Assuming your speedo was reading properly before the swap.

Thanks for the info.

That is about the first thing that I have done to this car that didn't turn into a Major PITA and having to go and get specialty parts etc.

Thanks again.
