Blown rear end? need help!
well earlier tonight i was driving my 1989 rs with the 2.8 v6. and well i was at a light behind a few other cars and the light turned green so naturally i shifted to first and started to go but almost instantly there was a loud POP! well needless to say i was scared sh*tless. so i pulled over at the intersection at a gas station and as i was pulling in it POPPED! again. i called my uncle whom i just bought the car from and immediatly we thought it wa the shocks but they were all ok. so the gas station had a mechanic and he took a look and he couldnt see anytihng. i drove it in second and it did the same thing. it also felt like there was something that was broken or scheared off right under the rear seats. it also did the same thing in reverse where it popped. i had the car towed and now it is in my garage. the question is what is wrong with the car? can anyone help? everything and anything would be appreciated. and no i was not racing or burning out i was at about 2000 rpm going 2-4 mph. thank you. sincerely stranded camaro.

I really have no idea what it could be, but I hope you figure it out and get the car up and running again. Keep us updated on what you find.

Check the torque arm and make sure the mount did't pop apart. Check the bushing in there also to make sure it's still good. I had my torque arm pop out of the clam shell before and it doesn't sound good when you hit the gas becasue the arm hits the transmission well.

Mine pops also. Especially around turns. I can't tell if its my shocks or my rear-end. I don't care if my rear-end does go. I have a 28 spline rear, zexel torsion posi, 3.73 motive gears ready to go in.
get under the car and look. check the trans mount, u joints, shoucks, pull the rear cover, spin the wheels and tires. if you can't find anything take it to a garage and have them look it over.
