HELP! Rear end nightmare just flushing the darn thing!
Hey guys
Yesterday i woke up went to the store and said..."sunday im changing the differential oil in my bird" well that was a mistake!1!
So i got 9 of the 10 bolts off the cover easy, the cover was all bent so i couldnt reach the 10th because there was some metal bar in the way (has ujoints on either side of the axle and bolted on to the body, i was able to move it out of the way after an hour of being afraid to bend it a lil lol anyway got the 10th then took off the cover
So the covers off all the old crap i draining, after that i cleaned the surfaces applied the new rtv and felpro then put all the bolts back in
Then I look for the fill plug to put the new stuff in, well i found it, i hope to *** i found it anyway (the picture) it TOOK a 3/4 ratchet but that didnt work! damn thing just kept twisting inside it, which didnt make any sense to me! (all the other bolts looked rusted to **** but came out easy!)
Anyway can someone confirm this is the drain plug and does it look like a shop can get it out?! I hope so, this is the first and last time i mess with the oil back there!

Yes that is the fill plug.
I hope you didn't just bend your Panhard bar, which is the suspension link that goes from the left end of the rear to the right side of the car's frame. If so, you need a new one.
Next time, after you put the car on jack stands and power the rear to do this, just raise or lower the rear with your floor jack until you can get your tool onto each of the bolts.
The plug usually takes a 3/8" square drive. Like ede said, dig as much of the funk as you can out of it, it should come out without too much of a fight since it's sort of bathed in grease all the time.

The tow truck guy actually was able to get it out (and he charged me 20 bucks for 2 minutes of work! i gotta get me some of them easy outs!)
I got a new plug and oil in it, drove it last night and all seemed fine, i think the engine was knocking a lil this morning, never happened before but the ride back home was fine
I hope that bar thing is ok...

If the panhard bar was bent or damaged you'll know as soon as you start taking corners hard.
