700R4 with a TH350 flexplate?
I am using a 700R4 in my rebuild and i purchased a balanced 383 stroker kit. It appears that the kit comes with a TH350 flexplate. The flexplate will still bolt up to the convertor and it appears it will fit fine inside the bellhousing. Is this true? The issue ive come accross so far is the starter. The flexplate they sent me has about a 1 inch larger diameter than the one that was in my 700R4. Will i have to use a different starter? If so will a starter for a turbo 350 work fine? I would really like to make this work rather than having to get the 700R4's flexplate balanced with the kit again. If it makes a difference i am using a 4 bolt main block from a '76 pickup.

168 tooth
Sounds like your kit came with a 168 tooth flexplate. You will have to use a starter for the larger flexplate. The bolt holes on the starter you need should be staggered, not streight across from each other as on the starter for the smaller 153 tooth flexplate.
I had to do the same thing with my 355 because it was a 1974 engine out of a Nova, and had a 168 tooth flexplate when it was new. I could have drilled the block to accept the starter for the 153 tooth flexplate, but I didn't know any of this stuff when I had the engine built. So I got a B&M SFI 168 tooth flexplate and a new Napa starter for a 1974 Nova. I think that I will have to cut the plastic shroud a little to make it fit around the new starter because it sits out a little farther. We'll see. I haven't gotten that far yet.
I have heard/read that the 168 tooth flexplate can/will grind on the inside of the TH700R4's bellhousing, But it cleared mine just fine and doesn't rub.
Hope this helps.
