2nd gear whines?

i just put in a pro 50 short shifter today, i drove around town for a while and later on in the night i notices that i can hear a whining noise that sound as if it is coming from my tranny it only happens in 2nd gear though and i get louder as the rpms raise. anyone have any clue?

I don't have a clue, as everyone knows; but I do know that aftermarket shifters transmit the noises from inside the trans, into the passenger compartment, far better than that rubber POS you took out. So expect to hear more of what's going on inside there than you used to.

So you dont think its anything to worry about. someone i talked to said it may be bearings? my car does occasionally grind into second when i get on it but what t-5 doesnt? COuld that whining have anything to do with my clutch. i think i need a new one.

It is possible that it is the bearings. That is a sign that they are worn, but if it's not real loud I wouldn't worry about that yet. As far as grinding, you probably need a new 2nd gear synchro. They wear out quite easily.
