rear end strength

i'm building an engine to hopefully run in the 7s in the 1/8th. i'm sure the stock '84 non-posi 10 bolt won't last. would a 9 bolt be the cheapest way to get a rear end to hold up. about how much can they take?

all depends on how you apply the power and how well you hook. the 10 bolt may be just fine as long as you do what you can to strengthen it.

what i would liek to do is use my brother's 7.65" carrier out of his 97 camaro, get some 28 spine axles, and put in a set of 4.10 or 4.56 gears. i'd probably only use some BFG 295/60-15s for now.
