Engine: 350 L98 TPI/360 v8

Transmission: 700r4/46RE 4x4

Axle/Gears: 4th gen 3.42 10 Bolt Posi/3.90 posi

transmission no go only reverse

i have an 84 z28. trans has reverse but no forward gears. i changed the fluid and it worked for 1 day after that all i got was reverse again and no forward gears also mt tc ticks can someone help. it is a 700 r4

What did the fluid look like when you pulled it out?

it was still a nice pink color and didnt smell burned. there was alot of sludge in the bottom of the pan but no metal on the magnet.

Sounds like used up forward clutches.

Rebuild time.

Id have to agree sludge is just the built up of worn clutchs. All of your hard parts are probably still in great shape, so seals and clutchs should solve the problems.
