9" ford conversion q
I was told that a good way to strengthen the rear would be to do away with it altogether and go with a Moser ENgineering Ford 9-inch unit. I search soem here, found a few good tidbits, but what exactly does this swap entail? Do I need a new driveshaft, do I need new rear axles, new brakes, does the torque arm work still, stuff like that. I checked ME's site, and found it somwehat informative adn am really intruiged with the idea - coupled with a GVOD and a rebuilt 700R4 and a 383 SuperRam... Just wondering if it's feasible. Thanks!

Call up Moser or Currie Enterprises and tell them what you want. Moser's regular bolt in package doesn't come with a 3rd member or brakes but does come with the housing, axles, torque arm mount. The housing ends are the same as your current 10 bolt so you can bolt on a set of 89-92 PBR disc brakes.
I went with Currie's stage 1 bolt in package minus the 3rd member which I got localy. It came with drum brakes which were used on the F150 trucks (100 bucks more for the ford explorer disc brakes), Lokar universal brake cables, torque arm bracket, the housing, 31 spline axles with the bearings and wheel studs already installed plus all the hardware you need. I was able to use my stock length driveshaft with a combo u-joint and was happy when my stock brake lines bolted right up to everything.
Here's a pic of it painted up, comes bare metal for whatever finish you want to put on it.
Housing installed, no 3rd member yet.
Then here's when it was completed.
