ive heard that there are kits to keep trans from down shifting,but only to 3/4 throttle ...is it possible to hook lock up solinoid and forth gear solinoid to a switch so it wont kick down no matter what in order to reach the highest top speed possible .... thanks tao

82 recrao ta 350 cid (fixed) 293 posi 1700 rpm 4th gear converter locked up its doing 75+ mph
( hoping for 190 mph)

 

You can setup the 700-R4 to not kick down to 3'rd but you will need to manually shift it into drive every time you want to downshift on the highway. This topic has been beaten to death do a search and you will find tons of info.

 

the fix is to change the throttle valve sleave.

 

You can modify the TV plunger sleeve with 2 Allen plugs and a dremel. You need to block the 4-3 part throttle downshift holes. This should (in the majority of cases) solve this.

 

Well, I think what your saying is that at WOT your 700R4 won't upshift. Right? If thats the case order GM Upshift Kit #8673948.

right auggie ... with a little feathering of the throttle we can get 135 to 140 mph but then it shifts down into 3rd ... somthing is going to break if this keeps happening ... thanks for the advice all ... tao
