gear ratio question....

gear ratio question....

i have a 1992 z-28 with cat back, modified air intake and hypertech chip. i have the stock gears which are 2:73. what would be a good performance ratio? i was told 3:42 were best for the tpi engines. any info or sugestions? thanks in advance!

I'll be going with a 3.42 once I get to the rear end part of my build. A 3.23 would also not be a bad choice. Just about anything would help get you moving over the 2.73..

I wouldnt venture to say that any gear is the "best" for any car. IMO it all comes down to personal preference and what you want out of and want to do with your car.
