Buzzing/grinding in my T5

Sometimes when I shift in to neutral to change gears I get a wierd buzzing/grinding noise and feel in the shifter as I'm going through neutral. Has anyone ever had this?

if it is what I think it is you might be in some trouble my 85 z-28 had the same problem and now I'm looking for a new tranny because the shop were it is now told me it was going to be $1800 to fix it. does it grind when you have it on neutral and when you are driving? and when the clutch is not engaged? that is what mine did but my car did it on almost every gear exept in 4th hope is not the same hate to see you in my shoes......

The only time I've noticed it is changing gears... I guess I'll have to start thinking about rebuilding or going to a T56... Do you know what the problem was?

well they gave me a ton of info but it was over the phone I'm going back there tomorrow to get a list maybe I can get some things myself and bring the cost down but like I said my tranny was really bad it grindded through all the gears and the only thing I can remember the guy told me was that when the tranny was bolt back on it was going to be a whole rebuilt one I'm thinking he was gonig to put all new internals on it I don't know until tomorrow when I go and see the guy.

TKO offered to rebuild my T5 for $700 and that included some upgraded parts so it could handle 400 to 450 hp. Shipping to the east coast was about $50--check 'em out.

I've looked into some of the rebuild kits and they look good... One of them had an extra high 5th gear which is a feature I would really enjoy.
