1998 and up(LS1) T-56 onto an L98

My friend has a 1991 Z28 he's got the T-56 out of an LS1 car and was wanting to know some information. Whats all needed for this swap? Will the bellhousing work? Would you use an LS1 style clutch? THANKS in advance

Bellhousing won't work. Input shaft won't work. Front cover plate on the transmission will need to be changed also. If you can find someone to sell you these parts off of an LT1 tranny, then it'll work, but you'll have to use LT1 clutch parts.

Then again, everything you have will work, if you swap in the LS1 to go with the trans.

Actually it can be done with the stock T-5 bellhousing and clutch.
McLeod has the adaptor plate and special pilot bearing that is needed for the swap, but it does encompass some problems.

(1) You need to shorten the drive shaft 2" and the torque arm.

(2) The shifter will hit the console and needs to be bent forward.

(3) The floor board needs a piece cut out about 3" back.

(4) Then there is the speedo problem.

Other than all that it works, as I have done one.
