2.73-3.42

Guys and gals!
I have an 88 IROC that has the 2.73 gears and I want to go to 3.42's. Can I take a whole 3 series carrier and gears and put them in there or can I just buy a ring gear spacer like I've seen people talk about on here? SUch as offered by drive train specialties? There is a whole set up on e-bay, carrier, gears etc. (3 series carrier).
So what is the options I have?
THanks guys.
I can be reached at smwalker7189@msn.com

Either way would work; as long as the ebay unit has the same axle splines as your existing one (which would be 26, if it's the original 88 rear)

Mine is the original 88 rear. What about the sizes I see. 7 5/8 etc. What effect does that have on what I need. Thanks for your input.

Is it a 9 bolt rear? I've got a set of 3.42's I counldn't use because my rear was swaped for a 10 bolt.

I Think you can just use the orginal spacers an you'll be set.

Regards,
G
