2.77 to something better?

Hey guys, I need to know what it will take to change my borg-warner 9 bolt (2.77) to something more like a 3.43 or 3.45 gear. Will I have to buy and entire new rear-end, or can I just throw the new ring and pinion in it? I am having problems finding a company that makes a lower gear that will just go into a borg-warner 9 bolt. Thank you.

You'll also need to get rid of the 2-series carrier you have, and get a 3-series one, out of a rear end with 3.27 or higher gears.
