So which is better?

I'm going to change from a 2.73 to a 3.42 and was wondering which is the best. I have seen Motive, Richmind and Strange. Is any one better than the other?

One other thing, I belive my '92 Camaro is a 28 spline. I have seen 27 and 30 spline gears but have not seen many 28 spline. Why is that?

Any input would be appreciated.

Bill

Since you want to go with a 3.42 gear I would look for a GM gear out of an LT1 or LS1 car. Might want to grab the posi why you are in there two so that you have a 3 series carrier to use that gear. GM gears are the quiettest. There isn't much point in going with super strong aftermarket gears when you are keeping the stock 10 bolt.

Actually I just want the gears for now. I would like to do a posi disc sometime in the future.

Can I get some GM 3.42's from a junk yard that will fit the 2-series carrier?

V6 3.42 gears will work with your 2 series carrier. You will want to double check but I am pretty sure. You could get a take out posi for less than 100 though and then maybe another 100 for the gears. You may just want to get it over with now. When you get your combo finally tuned you will want both wheels to spin. trust me.
