Trust my mechanic?
Ide do this all myself but i work a 70hr a week job and i live in an apartment complex
Is there a way to keep the overdrive on at all times on the 700r4 transmission without a kit? Also how can i modify it so it shifts gears faster. my mechanic said that all i need to do is bring him 8 quarts of tranny fluid and all this is easily modifiable without the lockup kit or shift kit... He has been a gearhead for years owned his own shop and he build his wife a 500hp+ camaro.. if he has 500+ i should be able to trust him huh? Just looking for a opinion or personal experiences.
thnx again guys

Your mechanic is an idiot. This isnt a ford aode or a 4+3 vette tranny, the overdrive doesnt turn on or off, your overdrive is your 4th gear. You want to be stuck in 4th gear all the time? Sure get a full manual transgo kit, and stick it in OD, it'll last all of a day before you fry it.
Maybe its the lockup converter your talking about? You can force it to lock in 2nd,3rd, and 4th by shorting 2 aldl pins. I dont remember which ones, do a search.
My advice, get the transgo kit, take it to a tranny shop and have them install it WITHOUT the full manual option and leave it at that.
