Hey Guys,

Im new to the whole drivetrain thing here is what I wanna do....

I want a posi rear end with 3.73 gears or 4.11, and I want it strong.

What kind of parts do i need and where are they avaible

Also would i be able to do the work myself and what is envolved.
I dont much about drivetrain but I can learn.

There's a good article on http://www.ws6transam.org/10bolt.html that I used when I had mine built. Same basic components...HD Torsen, Richmond 3.73 gears, Moser axles.

In terms of doing it yourself...if you have to ask, it's probably not for you. Setting the pinion depth, the preload and gear lash, etc. is a pretty big undertaking and investment in tools. I build engines, but I won't touch a gear swap.

Hey thanx for the info man, I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to use the entire rear end from a 4th gen.

R they good ?
How much power can they handle?

thanx again.

4th gen housing is wider than 3rd gen, have to either use 4th gen offset wheels or live with your 3rd gen ones further out.

They're not substantially better than a 3rd gen 10-bolt, same basic design and weaknesses.
