Gearing Cause whine?

Gearing Cause whine?

Is it true that if I get short gears like 4.11's it will make the car whine at high speeds,

Wats the shortest gear I can use whilist still avoiding this

have 3:73's and they whine so i would say 3:55's

Axle/Gears: S60/ 3.73
that has nothing to do with the whine, if you use factory (gm)3.73 or 4.11 gears and are setup correctly there will be no more noise from the rear end than any other set.

I have Richmond 3.73 and they whine from 40-45 or so, I set them up to specs 5 times and never changed a thing. The GM gears if set up correctly will not whine, I have heard good things about Richmond gears and I guess that I have a bad gearset, but its to late now. Guess it all depends on what gears you buy, recomend not to buy motive gears, they are horrible. IMO
